Nelson Off-Campus Instructional Site Information
What is an Instructional Site Partner?
Nelson University refers to Off-Campus Instructional Sites (OCIS) as Instructional Site Partners. Instructional Site Partners (OCIS) have two aspects:
- Nelson University’s Instructional Site Partners are, from one perspective, a stand-alone site offering internship, ministry, or education opportunities at their location. Some individuals may participate in a local partner site’s activity but not be involved in seeking course credit or a degree through our academic partnership.
- In relation to any academic programs, courses, credits, or degrees, Nelson University’s Instructional Site Partners are by SACSCOC definition, locations geographically apart from Nelson University’s main campus where instruction is delivered.
Nelson University’s Instructional Site Partners (aka Off-Campus instructional Sites) fall into one of three categories (Click here for the current list of partner sites within each category):
- Sites where less than 25% of any program’s instruction is delivered – no notification to SASCOC required, but must comply with SACSCOC standards.
- Sites where 25-49% of any program’s instruction is delivered – require notification to SACSCOC and must comply with SACSCOC standards.
- Sites where 50% or more of any program’s instruction is delivered – require SACSCOC approval prior to implementation and must meet a specific set of SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation (details available from Nelson IE Office).
Nelson University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, master’s, and doctorate degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Questions about the accreditation of Nelson University may be directed in writing to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges at 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097, by calling 404-679-4500, or by using information available on SACSCOC’s website (www.sacscoc.org).
