WAXAHACHIE, Texas — October 30, 2025— Nelson University has partnered with Zipline to bring drone delivery service to campus, becoming the first university in the nation to do so.

The partnership introduces a new level of innovation to campus life. With Zipline’s autonomous drones, students, faculty, and staff can receive deliveries without leaving campus.

Zipline is recognized worldwide for transforming the delivery of essential goods. The company began by transporting medical supplies to remote regions in Africa and has since expanded to major cities worldwide. Its collaboration with Nelson University is the first of its kind in higher education, offering a real-world setting to test and refine scalable drone delivery systems.

The project officially launched in June 2025 with several drone delivery zones established across campus. Students have already participated in demonstrations and coursework connected to the program. Faculty members in the Digital Media Arts and Criminal Justice programs have begun integrating drone technology into classes such as Drone Videography, giving students direct exposure to how these tools can be used in their fields.

The initiative reflects Nelson University’s mission to prepare students and connect them to their calling. It also creates new pathways for students interested in technology, innovation, and logistics.
