Waxahachie, Texas- June 6, 2017 – The Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) has announced 25 student-athletes have earned their spot on the 2016-17 Academic All-Conference Men’s Basketball team as presented by Cypress Risk Management . Darian Davis , Dominique Josephs and Lance Tipton from the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions have made the cut.

Darian Davis is a freshman forward from Garland, Texas. Lance Tipton is another athlete making the grades as a freshman.  Tipton, a forward form Midlothian, Texas, was also named SAC Freshman of the Year. Dominique Josephs is a transfer-junior from Colorado Christian and is originally from Jamaica.

To be eligible for the SAC Academic All-Conference team, students must maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA during the previous two semesters and are regulars (letter winners) on their respective team.

Eight of the SAC’s 10 institutions had at least one selection with St. Gregory’s University and Wayland Baptist University having the most with six.

Cypress Risk Management , based in Omaha, Neb, is an insurance agency that specializes in providing customized solutions for collegiate student health and athletic accident insurance. The organization currently insures over 500,000 students nationwide and is already engaged with several other NAIA conferences in similar type of partnerships.
